Vision statement for governors
The Governors at Peters Hill are committed to supporting the Head Teacher and all staff in achieving the school vision of ‘Fly high; flourish and fulfil where every child is encouraged, motivated and supported to achieve their best both academically and personally
Governors have three core functions, they must:
· Ensure the school has an aspirational vision that drives continual school improvement.
· Hold the Head Teacher and school to account for the highest academic performance of the children.
· Ensure money is well spent to achieve the best outcomes for all children.
Governors want the curriculum to be inspirational to develop skills, competencies and knowledge that will prepare children for the next stages of their education and life beyond school. We want our children to be ambitious, to show compassion and have pride in everything they do. They need to believe in themselves and above all respect all others.
How do governors achieve this?
· All Governors meet twice per term, once to ensure we fulfil our legal obligations and secondly to keep us informed about everything that is going on in school.
· Separate groups meet to monitor performance, spending and the school premises.
· We are also involved in making plans for the future to ensure Peters Hill ‘stays ahead of the field’ in its development and achievements.
· Governors take on individual responsibilities such as SEND, CLA, Pupil premium, Sports Premium, Areas of the curriculum and every governor is attached to a year group to monitor and support the year.
We are very fortunate to have a committed group of governors.
SEND: Children with additional educational needs
CLA: Children in the care of the Local Authority
Pupil Premium: Additional funding for disadvantaged children
Sports Premium: Additional funding to provide sports and activities to ensure healthy, happy children.
