The Nurture Project
The Nurture Project is a providing an exciting opportunity for the children of Peters Hill to become responsible, caring and nurturing people. There are 3 main parts to the project, which will give all children access to love and nurture in a variety of ways.
Very exciting news! The hen house has finally arrived (after many weeks of waiting) and is currently being secured, so the hens can live a happy life in new found freedom. The children will be helping and seeing that the hens are nurtured from a not so good life to new found freedom, where they will be loved and cared for. We are also hoping that when the hens are laying eggs, we will be able to sell or use the eggs to bake in our outside bread oven.
Already Harry the Guinea Pig has arrived in reception and the children are learning all about how to look after him. Many other classes over the next few weeks will be gaining pets and learning to take responsibility to look after their class pet and learn all about them.
Giving to the community
We are hoping to give to the community by planting flowers around the community to make it more attractive and colourful. The children will be planting the flowers in a variety of areas once permission has been granted by the local council. We would like to take this opportunity to say a very special thank you to the family of Callum in Year 5. Callum’s family have been working hard and knitting special jumpers to keep our hens warm, whilst we wait for the regrowth of their feathers. We very much appreciate this and we will provide a fashion show of pictures at a later date!
