In the UK, October marks the beginning of Black History Month. This national celebration aims to promote and celebrate the contributions of those with African and Caribbean heritage to British society and to foster an understanding of Black history in general.
In school today, we have been learning a bit about its importance and each year group has focussed on a different person. Year 3 have learnt about the life of Lenny Henry.
We learnt a little bit about his childhood and some of the struggles he had, as well as delving into his fantastic contributions to TV, theatre and of course, his countless charity work.
