Lunch Information

Peters Hill is a nut free school therefore children should not bring nuts or any products containing nuts into school.  Please note that this also includes products such as Nutella. 

 

Due to government guidelines, it has been necessary to make some changes to the way that we provide school lunches and the choices that we are able to offer.

 

 

Each morning, your child’sclass teacher will ask who would like to order lunch from the kitchen and what they would like and their cashless catering account will be debited.  Children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 next year will be eligible to receive a universal free school meal.  We would be grateful if you could talk to your child about these changes.

This situation will be reviewed on a regular basis and parents will be advised.

Update

With effect from the 1st October 2021, there are new legal requirements for all pre-packaged for direct sale (PPDS) foods.

To summarise, the new rules apply to any food that is packaged before the customer orders, such as pre-packed sandwiches and cakes.  Such items are to be labelled, detailing all ingredients and allergens must be highlighted in bold.  The 14 allergens are:

Nuts                                                    Peanuts                                       Eggs              

Milk                                                     Fish                                             Crustaceans

Molluscs                                              Cereals contain gluten                 Celery           

Lupin                                                   Mustard                                       Sesame

Soya                                                    Sulphur dioxide

Primary Schools

Primary Schools will either have a pre-order service in place or, children will select from the counter, but there will be no pre-packaged items available.  Allergen information will still be available for all food items.

All Unit Catering Managers have been provided with a detailed Allergen Policy and are supported by the Catering Operations Team.
